Rotary District 9650 Public Speaking Competition
This competition is one of Rotary s youth programs, aimed at giving high school students the opportunity to broaden their public speaking experience. Students will deliver a 5 minute prepared speech. The competition will be split into two sections when students reach the semi-finals their prepared speech and a 2 minute impromptu speech.All students in year 10 or 11 in 2011 who are living in District 9650 can enter this competition.
How is the competition run?
Students must be nominated by their local Rotary Club. This entry must be to them by the end of August. If each Club in your town has more than one entrant, a competition between those entrants will take place at a designated meeting of that Club in September. The Club s entrant will then go on to compete in the Cluster competition in October/November. Winners in each Cluster will then compete in the Cluster Final to be held in Walcha on Saturday 25 February 2012, to select the four entrants who will compete (on a day to be designated) at the District Conference to be held in Inverell on March 9, 10, &11 2012.
The Prize:
The winner will receive a return flight to New Zealand, courtesy of Windsong Travel, Inverell, and will be hosted for two weeks by Rotarians in New Zealand.
What topics can you choose?
You can choose any topic for your prepared speech, but it must relate to one or more principles of the Rotary Four-Way Test. This test is the principle by which Rotarians test their own commitment to the objects of Rotary
