Club Plan 2010-2013
ROTARY CLUB OF COFFS HARBOUR DAYBREAK CLUB PLAN 2010-2013
Our Ambition
It is our ambition to be recognised as a leading service club within the Coffs Harbour community.
Our Values
- We endorse the Rotary International values of Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity and Leadership.
- We follow the creed “Service above Self”, and we adhere to Rotary’s Four Way Test.
- We are friendly and welcoming to all.
- We pursue excellence in all that we do.
- We share the load and work as a team, whilst recognising the contributions of each of our members.
- We share ideas, talents and experience to create solutions.
- We value diversity of membership.
Our Main Goals
We have two main goals that we will aim to achieve over the next three years:
1. Goal 1 - To build upon our existing program of five major service projects & events. We intend to achieve this Goal by:
- Taking the Ocean Swim to the next level. Our aim is to increase the funds raised from this event to $30K per annum, to be used to support charities, volunteer organisations and other worthy recipients in the Coffs Harbour area. This event will be led by an Ocean Swim Sub-Committee formed specifically to work on the development of the Swim.
- Retaining the Trivia Night as a key fundraising event. Funds raised from this event will continue to be used to support a local Coffs Harbour charity or volunteer organisation. The Trivia Night will be led by our Community Service Committee.
- Developing the Golf Day into a more substantial fundraising event. We will aim to raise $15K-20K per annum from this event to be used to support a variety of international and local Rotary projects and programs, including our own club international project, Chiedza. The Golf Day will be led by our International Service Committee.
- Ensuring Rymarine remains our “flagship” Youth Service activity. We will seek to continually improve the Rymarine experience so that it maintains its reputation for providing young people with an opportunity to gain insights into marine science-related study and employment opportunities. Rymarine will be led by the Youth Service Committee.
- Developing our Pride of Workmanship Awards into a highly regarded event on the Coffs Harbour community calendar. Following the great success of the 2009 Pride of Workmanship Awards, we will continue to hold them in a similar format each year, with the aim of giving our local community an opportunity to recognise and publicly acknowledge the great work being done by individuals in a wide range of workplaces. Pride of Workmanship will be led by the Vocational Service Committee.
2. Goal 2 – To provide our members and their families and friends with a range of enjoyable, but inexpensive social activities that will help to develop fellowship within the Club. This goal will be led by our Club Service Committee, and includes:
- Changeover Dinner.
- Christmas party.
- A social function or event approximately every two months. Some of these events may coincide with our service projects (eg, the Rymarine dinner), whilst others will be stand-alone social activities.
How do we intend to achieve our Club’s Ambition and Goals?
- By working hard to maintain a strong, diverse membership base so that the club continues to be well served by enthusiastic people with a wide range of skills and experience as we collectively work towards delivering our five major projects, and all the other various activities that the club may decide to be involved in.
- By participating in the fellowship opportunities that membership of Rotary Daybreak offers.
- By ensuring we continue to maintain a good balance between our support for our local community, and international programs and initiatives.
- By working to significantly enhance our profile in the community (and more broadly within Rotary) by using all available means of publicising our events and activities.
- By exploring and using all avenues of fundraising, including the sourcing of grants and sponsorships where appropriate.
- By ensuring we fully document, and make readily available through our website, all relevant information on each of our events, programs and activities, so that those coming after us have a strong resource to use for future planning.
- By effectively managing our financial resources.
Other Activities and Events
The five major service projects, together with the club’s main social events, provide the framework for our Rotary year.
However, as a club, we encourage each of our committees to consider a range of other events and activities during the year, taking into account of the need to balance our members’ Rotary activities with the busy lives everyone leads outside of Rotary.
Review of the Club’s Outline Plan
It is intended the Club’s Outline Plan be reviewed annually in February to ensure the incoming elected board members have the opportunity to consider any changes for the following Rotary Year.
